Definition and Usage

The splitText() method splits the text node into two nodes at the specified offset.

This function returns the node containing the text after the offset.

The text before the offset remains in the original text node.

Syntax

splitText(offset)

Parameter Description
offset Required. Specifies where to split the text node. Offset value starts at zero


Example

The following code fragment loads "books.xml" into xmlDoc using loadXMLDoc() and splits the text node after the first word:

x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0];
y=x.splitText(9);
